Extremely overdue and much begrudged congratulations to FA Cup winners Chelsea
It is with very little joy and through gritted teeth that Londonopolis offers its congratulations to Chelsea, the 2009 FA Cup winners.
Despite falling behind after just 25 seconds to Louis Saha’s new fastest Cup final strike, Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners thanks to predictable goals from the axis of evil, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.
Although they got off to a shaky start, over the ninety minutes the West Londoners were clearly worthy winners in interim manager Guus Hiddink’s final game in charge and picked up the trophy for a fifth time.
Still, all is not lost. Incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti might, like Luis Felipe Scolari before him, find managing in the Premier League too tough to handle.
Here’s hoping.
